The sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist are sacraments of initiation and therefore of extreme importance. While children are going through their primary school years they receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation which, together make them full members of our Church. Of course, these sacraments properly belong to the parish and not the school and as such the children are both prepared and celebrate these sacraments in the context of the parish.
Each year, parents are notified through their child’s school of when the Sacraments will take place and dates to remember, whether it be one of our Catholic school, St Francis Xavier or St Catherine od Siena or via a catechist in the local state schools. They are invited to join, with their children, in small groups to prepare the children for the sacrament. This allows the parents to have a very active role in their faith education.
